Brittny Pharr is a doctoral student at the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations. Brittny joined the program as a marketing communications professional with nearly 20 years of advertising agency and client-side experience, spanning several categories including beauty and wellness, in addition to a specialization in the Black American consumer segment. Brittny’s most noted experience was with Burrell Communications Group, one of the largest multicultural agencies in the country, where she oversaw all strategy development and advertising for Procter & Gamble’s Multicultural Haircare portfolio. It was during her tenure at Burrell that Brittny developed her passion as an advocate for representation and equity in advertising.
Brittny has guest lectured on the importance of multicultural advertising at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Miami, The University of Texas Austin and as an invited panelist in key industry events, including the inaugural Jerome Williams Lecture on Race, Media and the Marketplace.
