Kristina Shumilina, a Fulbright Scholar and Edmund S. Muskie Fellow, is a Ph.D. student in Advertising at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests lie at the intersection of visual communication and technology.

With a diverse background in journalism, communications, and design, Kristina has explored digital and emerging technologies — including motion design, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence — as well as design education. Building on this foundation, she currently focuses on how technology shapes creative practice, education, and media. In her doctoral studies, she is particularly interested in questions of technological ethics and the evolving role of AI and extended reality in visual communication, education, and advertising.
