Sophia is a doctoral candidate in the Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations at the Moody College of Communication and a fellow for The University of Texas at MD Anderson’s Cancer Center’s Be Well Acres Homes. She was recently recognized by her mentors and received the Roderick P. Hart Student Achievement Award in 2025. Her primary research interest is the cognitive processing of health messaging with particular interest in public health, advocating for vulnerable populations, and decreasing health disparities through cancer prevention.
Sophia builds skills outside the classroom by working on multiple research projects with the Center for Health Communication (CHC) at The University of Texas at Austin. She offers a unique theoretical perspective while learning directly from the CHC team and its clients through a hands-on approach.
