Haocan is a doctoral student in Advertising at The University of Texas at Austin. His research agenda centers on three interconnected directions.

  • Design effective and personalized interventions and trace the accumulation of persuasive media effects.
  • Link individual behaviors with health campaigns / population-level impact.
  • Examine how persuasive mechanisms and digital health symptoms transform within AI-mediated communication (AIMC) and human-AI interaction (HAII) contexts.

Haocan takes an interdisciplinary and multi-method approach. He combines experimental and longitudinal research designs with quantitative and computational methods to examine media effects across individuals, contexts, and time. His research has been published in Computers in Human Behavior, Addiction, The Journal of Sex Research, Health Communication, and BMC Public Health

Outside of research, Haocan has a cat (brother) named Doudou, Doudou has learned to communicate using talking buttons. Miss you, Doudou.
