ACL Survival Guide from TXADPR

October has come and Austin is gearing up for the return of crazy outfits, out-of-towners, and a packed Zilker Park. Yup, it’s time for ACL.

The Austin City Limits Festival draws out music fans from all over the world and fills the Capital of Texas for two consecutive weekends. With roughly 75,000 visitors a day, and 8 stages; you’ll definitely need to prepare to ensure an electrifying experience. To help you get ready, we’ve compiled a list of 5 ACL survival tips.

  1. FIND A RIDE

There is no parking at or around Zilker and the partnered parking offered is extremely limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Don’t get stuck looking for parking and miss your favorite performer’s set. Find a ride.

  1. BRING A HYDRATION BACKPACK

Don’t get stuck lugging a water bottle around Zilker Park. Come prepared with an empty hydration backpack and fill up the pack once inside the park. Staying hydrated is so important while you're dancing your heart out.

Side note: ACL won’t allow you to bring a hydration pack with more than two pockets!

  1. HAVE A GAME PLAN

There are so many artists and stages all across the park, so make sure you know who you want to see and which stage they’re performing on. You’ll probably have to dash across the park, so have the lineup downloaded on your phone and get ready to run.

  1. CHECK THE WEATHER

Texas weather is finicky. Make sure you check the weather app and be prepared for the possibility of different weather conditions throughout the day.

Bonus points if you pack a non-aerosol sunscreen, size 3.4 ounces or less, to reapply throughout the day!

  1. KEEP YOUR PHONE CHARGED

Getting stuck with a dead phone can be concerning if you need to call a ride or find a friend; plus you’ll probably want to snap some pictures. Either be ready to conserve your power or bring a portable phone charger.
