Graduate School Select Admission Program
The University of Texas at Austin is recognized for its commitment to academic excellence and innovation across all its programs and departments. One of its most forward-thinking programs is the Graduate School Select Admission Program, a program available to academically outstanding undergraduates considering an undergraduate and graduate degree at UT.
What is the Graduate Select Admission Program and why does it hold such a high esteem?
The Graduate Select Admission Program is a highly competitive program designed for undergraduate students with an interest in graduate school who would like to push their academic journey to a new level and advance in their chosen field. Exceptional, outstanding students can secure a spot in this prestigious program during their junior year of undergraduate studies.
What are some features that emerge that make this program so distinguished?
- The Select Admission program provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to take up to 12 hours of graduate level coursework while an undergraduate student and then gain admission to that program once they finish their undergraduate degree.
- The streamlined admission process guarantees students admission to their desired grad program following graduation.
- Diverse Graduate Programs: The University of Texas at Austin offers a wide variety of graduate programs, ranging from STEM to communication.
- Mentorship Opportunities: Select admission students will begin networking with faculty as an undergraduate and building connections for their future interests.
Melika Ravanassa, an applicant for the Select Admission program from the Moody College, commented:
“The Select Admission Program is interesting to me because it allows me to plan out my academic future earlier in the year and it reduces the time it takes to complete the masters program since you can take classes during undergrad. It makes me feel more prepared that I'm able to plan further in advance!”
Gary Wilcox, MA Advisor in the Advertising Master’s program, noted, “Every year we have a few students who take advantage of this great opportunity. It is not a well-publicized option and it’s not for everyone but if it sounds interesting to students thinking about the MA program in Advertising, I would be happy to visit with them.”
