Last-Minute V-Day Date Ideas to do with Your Boo

Busy with school? Did you wait until the last minute to plan something special for your special someone? Here are seven things you can do in Austin to make it seem like you’ve been planning for weeks! Chocolate and flowers are nice, but a great date will create a lasting memory.

  1. Sunset paddleboarding or kayaking

Grab your sweetheart and your sweater, and head out to the Texas Rowing Center for a sunset paddleboard or kayak. Grab a tandem kayak to stay close on the water for only $20 an hour.

  1. Hike a trail

Grab your honey and take a hike. Check out the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail and Boardwalk or pack some snacks and pick a trail on the Greenbelt. Enjoy the vista.

  1. Food truck park

Didn’t make a reservation a month ago? No worries! Head to one of Austin’s amazing food truck parks for a delicious meal on a budget. Try out The Picnic or The Thicket, some of the most popular food trucks in town.

  1. Tasty treats on South Congress

Take a stroll down South Congress and treat each other to a scoop at Jenni’s or Amy’s Ice Cream. Wander in and out of shops and pretend like you're a tourist. Don’t forget to take pictures while you're at it.

  1. Rent a scooter and create your own Austin tour.

Nothing like the adrenaline rush of speeding on a scooter. Head to your favorite spots or recreate your first date, scooter style!

  1. Classy art spot on West 6th.

Stop into the West Chelsea Contemporary gallery to see famous art for free. Open until 6 pm Sunday through Wednesday and until 8 pm on Friday and Saturday. Then meander to a casual restaurant on West 6th to round off the day.

  1. Bakery bop

Austin has some amazing bakeries! Why not pick out a few baked goods from Quacks, Teal House Coffee & Bakery, and doughnuts from Gourdoughs while exploring the city.
