From Flipping on the Trampoline to Flipping the Script at UT Austin

Tomas Minc has never known a life without gymnastics. The junior has been competing since age 1, began representing the United States internationally at 13, and has built a career defined by discipline and dedication. Even with a demanding training schedule, Minc always prioritized public school because for him, academics and social life were never negotiable.

Now a Sports Management major at the University of Texas at Austin, with 3 minors in Professional Sales & Business Development (PSBD), Entrepreneurship, and Business Foundations, plus 2 certificates in Business Spanish and Spanish for Medical Professions, Minc demonstrates that elite athletics and academic ambition can coexist. A second-generation Argentinian originally from the D.C. area, he chose UT with intention. Tumble Tech, where he trains, is nearby, and the university's reputation made the decision clear.

"I wanted to make sure I was going to a great school, and UT checked all those boxes. Good school, gym nearby, like, no brainer."

Building a Brand Beyond the Mat

Minc's gymnastics resume is distinguished by a milestone few athletes can claim. In 2021, he became the first and only person to land the "Full in Triff," a trick he held exclusively for four years and still hopes to compete with officially to earn naming rights. His most memorable moment came in the summer of 2023, just before starting at UT, when he won his first senior international gold medal at a World Cup in the U.S. What made it especially meaningful was that he had been battling serious mental blocks and was not sure he would be able to compete at all.

Beyond the gym, Minc has built a social media presence that reflects the same commitment he brings to athletics. He is verified on Instagram with 264,000 followers, has 621,000 YouTube subscribers and 92,000 TikTok followers. He attributes his growth to authenticity.

"I try to be really authentic. I show all my fails pretty much, whereas most people would be scared, like, they don't want to show them messing up. I am just trying to show every step of the way to young gymnasts that it's okay to fail. It's all a part of the process and I think it makes it really personable."

He also runs his own clothing brand, MAS by Minc, and holds a creative internship with Texas Athletics this semester.

A New Lens in ADV 369

Minc discovered ADV 369, taught by Dr. Wilcox, through his PSBD minor. The course is application-only, and once accepted, students run the social media platforms for Stan Richards Advertising & Public Relations (TXADPR). Minc joined the Original Content team for Spring 2026 with the goal of sharpening skills he had largely developed on his own.

"I've only done whatever I thought was best for my personal brand, so being in the class has helped me have another lens. Everyone has a different perspective on what people want to see, and I don't get that just by myself."

That collaborative environment has pushed his content in new directions. As someone who carved out a niche in trampoline gymnastics content long before it was common, Minc understands how much perspective matters when building an audience.

"What kind of sets me apart is, at least in trampoline gymnastics, no one is really making content the way I was doing it. I found a way to repurpose it and make it stick out to a mainstream audience that anyone who doesn't even know anything about gymnastics was going to watch."

Eyes on the Future

With a creative internship at Texas Athletics already on his resume, Minc is thinking ahead. His short-term goal is sports marketing, and long-term he hopes to own his own gymnastics gym and team. In the meantime, he is still pursuing naming rights for the Full in

Triff, a milestone that would cement his legacy in the sport.

For student-athletes navigating that same balance, his advice is straightforward.

"You need to want it more than you fear it. Don't let fear stop you from being the best version of yourself."
