Stan Richards School TXADPR Students Host the Sixth-Annual #TXADPR Bowl

AUSTIN, Texas—Jan. 27, 2020—Advertising students from The University of Texas at Austin Stan Richards School of Advertising & Public Relations will partner with the Center of Sports Communication and Media to host the sixth-annual TXADPR Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday.

Where: Center for Sports Communication and Media: Jesse H Jones Building-B (CMB), Rm 3.110

When: Sunday, February 2, 2020, beginning at 5:00pm

Since 2014, The Stan Richards School of Advertising & Public Relations’ social media team, TXADPR, has hosted #TXADPR Bowl, a live-tweeting event held during the Super Bowl where students in the social media class and others share their thoughts on the highly-anticipated Super Bowl ads of the year. Aside from tweeting, the team makes use of social media listening tools and audience feedback to track and record audience responses to the ads.

Last year, the Center of Sports Communication and Media (CSCM) began partnering with the TXADPR team to help the CSCM gain visibility and promote its activities, which focus on fostering a community with interests in sports journalism, media production, and human communication. Additionally, the Center’s director and program manager expressed their desire to bring together the different Moody departments (Journalism, Radio-Television-Film, Communication Studies, and Advertising and Public Relations) and facilitate the cultural discussion of the Super Bowl ads.

In the past, Dr. Gary Wilcox, advertising professor and the TXADPR team coordinator, shared that the #TXADPR Bowl “provides us with the opportunity to reach beyond our normal audience and communicate our enthusiasm and excitement about advertising and social media.”

This Sunday, February 2, the team will hold the TXADPR Bowl at the facility of Moody College’s Center of Sports Communication and Media (CSCM).
