UT Advertising Master's Program Ranked #1 in the US

2023-2024 College Raptor Ranking
Number One Advertising Master's Program

The University of Texas at Austin has once again been named the number one school for advertising in the nation by College Raptor for the 2023-24 school year.

The Stan Richards School of Advertising & Public Relations’ comprehensive curriculum, renowned faculty and strong industry connections have helped earn the school this ranking for the second year in a row, said UT advertising and public relations professor Gary Wilcox, who is the master’s degree advisor.

“It's great to be recognized again for our efforts. UT began offering the MA program almost 50 years ago and over the past several decades it has been consistently ranked as a top graduate program because of its curriculum innovations, award winning faculty and super-talented students. The flexibility of study options continues to be a key attribute for student success with now four different study options.”

UT Austin’s advertising graduate program, which is housed in the Moody College of Communication, offers students the ability to create a degree based on their interests and aspirations through specialized courses. Students are given the opportunity to apply to Texas Strategy, Texas Immersive, Texas Creative and Texas Public Relations. These programs are specifically designed to help guide students in their future careers.

“Being a part of the Texas Creative portfolio program has given me the opportunity to practice my creative process and produce numerous campaigns that will help set me apart after graduation,” advertising graduate student Savannah Mere said.

Students also have the ability to apply to dual-degree programs, internships and portfolio programs, such as cultural studies, for students who want to obtain credits in cross-disciplinary studies. The ability to personalize your degree path makes the program very diverse and gives students the opportunity to learn from a variety of different disciplines.

“What really made me want to be a part of this school is the Texas Strategy program,” said advertising graduate student Sarah Nahas. “This program has helped me develop the use of insights and analytical tools that help me better understand consumer intelligence. As someone who wants to go on to be a market analyst, I would say this program has helped me gain the knowledge and skills necessary to get my dream job.”

Wilcox said the ranking would not have been possible without all the faculty and students that contribute to the university's accomplishments.

“Being part of UT Austin’s advertising graduate program has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my academic career,” said second year advertising graduate student Meredyth Binder. “I am confident that the rigor of this program has helped me to develop a skill set that will position me as a strong candidate for a wide range of roles within the advertising industry.”
