The advertising world has lost one of its greatest this past month. The award-winning copywriter and creative director, Cliff Freeman, has passed away at his home in Manhattan. He was 80 years old. According to his wife, Susan Freeman, the cause of death was due to pneumonia. Throughout the years, Freeman’s sense of humor has been crucial in helping brands stand out in very competitive markets.
As The Moody College of Communication has promoted significantly throughout the past month, this Fall, the AD&PR school welcomed a new director, Dr. Natalie Tindall. Before becoming a member of the Longhorn family, Dr. Tindall served in various leadership roles in academia. She was the chair of the Department of Communication and Media at Lamar University, a co-graduate director at Georgia State University in Atlanta, and faculty at the University of Oklahoma. On July 13, 2020, the Washington Football team decided to retire their Redskins logo and team name after 88 years. The final decision was made when the team issued a statement stating that the team would undergo a review of their past name due to recent controversial events. Following their decision, the team announced that they would go by “Washington Football Team” until they formally decide on a new name and logo.
As the new school year kicks off, class projects are beginning to come in full swing. This semester’s Integrated Communication for Nonprofit Organizations class gets the privilege of working with Aba Blankson, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for the NAACP.

Esteemed University of Texas professor Terry Hemeyer gave a presentation to the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Professor Hemeyer is an expert in this field. He has managed first-class national brands and provided political communication advice to two U.S. Presidents.
