Hi! My name is Briana Stubblefield and I am from San Antonio, Texas. I am a current senior majoring in Advertising and minoring in Business. Some roles that I have on campus are a stylist in Hook’d Magazine, a reading buddy in SEAL (Students Expanding Austin Literacy), and a mentee in TAG!

Former Journalism and Public Relations double-major Kaitlin Reid has brought a unique offering to the Moody course schedule with a class she says she would have liked to take as a student to prepare for a career in today’s music industry.

Terry Hemeyer, Professor at the University of Texas and Advertising and Public Relations expert gave an IABC Webinar over Driving Change and Influencing Organizations. Hemeyer addresses questions such as; How can communications professionals drive change and influence their organizations? Does senior management listen? Instead of asking for a seat at the table, how can communications professionals earn that seat in key meetings in the boardroom or c-suite?

Making the decision about what you want to study can be difficult, and it’s even more challenging when you don’t understand the difference between your options. Like, isn’t marketing and advertising basically the same thing? Is strategic communication just public relations or just advertising?

International hip-hop duo Salt-N-Pepa took center stage at the LBJ Lawn and thrilled Texas fans from far and wide before the Longhorns took on Rice on September 18. The show was part of the pregame concert series known as Longhorn City Limits—offering entertainment and festivities for Longhorn fans before each home game. 

To finish celebrating Hispanic heritage month, TXADPR interviewed graduate student, Mario Carmona. 

“I am a first-generation Mexican American from Baytown, TX. I completed my bachelor's degree at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, and I am currently an advertising graduate student at UT's School of Advertising and PR.”

The advertising world has lost one of its greatest this past month. The award-winning copywriter and creative director, Cliff Freeman, has passed away at his home in Manhattan. He was 80 years old. According to his wife, Susan Freeman, the cause of death was due to pneumonia. Throughout the years, Freeman’s sense of humor has been crucial in helping brands stand out in very competitive markets.

As The Moody College of Communication has promoted significantly throughout the past month, this Fall, the AD&PR school welcomed a new director, Dr. Natalie Tindall. Before becoming a member of the Longhorn family, Dr. Tindall served in various leadership roles in academia. She was the chair of the Department of Communication and Media at Lamar University, a co-graduate director at Georgia State University in Atlanta, and faculty at the University of Oklahoma. In addition to leadership roles at prior institutions, Dr.

The University of Texas at Austin promotes international programs during the academic year and Professor Octavio Kano-Galvan has had the opportunity to participate in the Texas Global Virtual Exchange (GVE) initiative. Texas Global “advances UT’s academic mission by leading, coordinating, and supporting the university’s international engagement efforts and providing opportunities for students and faculty to engage with their peers around the world”.
