Pooja’s research is focused on digital privacy, surveillance, and big data by studying emerging media, the politics of platforms, and consumer behavior, with an additional keen interest in bridging the gap between academia and industry.
Hailing from India, Pooja has lived and worked in New York City, prior to calling Austin her home for the last few years. She has spent almost a decade in the advertising agency space working at GroupM (Maxus) and GSD&M in strategic media planning on brands like Welch’s, Whole Foods Market, and American Petroleum Institute to name a few.
She has participated in many industry events and guest lectured on digital media at Texas Christian University, Texas State University, and the University of Texas at Austin.
