Patrick Jamar is a doctoral student in The Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations at The University of Texas at Austin. His research interests involve science communication as it intersects with environmental sustainability, new media, and behavioral psychology. His research uses quantitative and qualitative research methodologies with psychological and social theory. 

Previously, he was involved in research at Michigan State University dealing with a children’s science discovery TV program on a PBS-affiliated TV station. He has also implemented initiatives like “The Teacher-Voice Project” which aimed to increase student attentiveness in the classroom, campus-wide talks with speakers like GasLand’s Josh Fox, teaching recycling dos and don’ts to elementary school classrooms, and constructing community gardens within Midwestern rural towns. 

He has also worked as a marketing coordinator for nonprofit organizations like the MasterCard Scholarship Foundation as well as for-profit telecommunication and tradeshow companies.
