Buduo is a second-year doctoral student at The Stan Richards School of Advertising and Public Relations at The University of Texas at Austin. He is interested in cross-cultural communication and his current research involves the impact of stereotypes on intergroup interaction, advertising effects on ethnic minorities and the role of culture in advertising. His master’s thesis examined the perceptions of Asian stereotypes in advertising. His goal is to continue conducting research regarding the use of stereotypes in advertising and its subsequent persuasive outcomes. He is a strong believer that pro-social advertising can be used to break stereotypes, to facilitate communication across cultures and ultimately to make the world a better place for all.
